Q:Whats the difference between the pay and free leagues?
A: This is a good question! Starting in 2007 FWS was designed to allow both types of players a chance to have a FWS team. There are those that want to compete for prizes and have all the fancy manager tools for their money and there are still some of you who just play for fun, so that option is available. You can always switch from the free league to the pay league and if it's before the 2nd tournament of the year you even get to drag your points along with you.
Here are the extra features you get for $9.95
- The biggest and best part is the chance at over $5,000 in prizes
- The opportunity to form private conferences with your friends
- The opportunity to play in public conferences
- News write ups and tourney rrsults posted in weekly articles
- Weekly email reminders about getting your skiers started on your roster
- An extra $5,000,000 in salary cap spending
- Extra managerial tools including the exciting new track teams feature which allows you to track the points and progress of teams outside of your conference right on your managers page
- A shot at being crowned 2007 FWS Champion!!!!!!!!!!!
Q: How do Fantasy Waterski owners compete?
A: Owners compete in a number of scoring categories over the course of the pro-waterski season. Teams are awarded points based on how their skiers perform at each pro tournament as selected by Fantasywaterski.com. The team with the most points at the end of the season is declared champion of their conference. Champions of each conference will compete against each other with the winner being declared the league champion.
Q: How is everything scored?
A: Your team earns points based on real life performances from skiers on your roster. Each event and each round of skiing earns different points. Please access our Scoring Page for a complete rundown on the scoring method.
Q: How many skiers do I draft?
A: Each owner will draft 15 skiers between the 6 events: Men’s and Women’s slalom, tricks, and jumping.
Q: How does the draft work?
A: Once you register your team you will receive email confirmation and your name will appear on the leader board page. At this time you can begin to draft your team by logging in. You draft the skiers in each event based on a salary cap.
Q: Can 2 of my teams play in the same conference?
A: No, when you enter more than 1 team they must compete in different conferences
Q:What if I don't draft any skiers?
A: That's fine you can choose to go strictly with a computer draft
Q: Are there any prizes for the winners?
A: Prizes are explained here
Q: What if my skier gets hurt?
A: Each owner will have plenty of back up skiers to activate to the lake. Each tournament you activate a certain percentage of skiers, so you will always have back up skiers on the starting dock. If your skier gets hurt you can also pick up a skiers from free agency or add your own skier not listed by Fantasywaterski to your team
Q: Can me and friends join a conference together?
A: Yes and this is a great option in the prize league. If you would like to form your own conference with friends just designate that option and the name of your conference when you register.
Q: What if a pro tournament is added mid-season?
A: We usually add tournaments as the season goes on and more our added to the tour. Go toscoring tournaments to keep an eye on them. If this should occur you will be notified via e-mail on the date and scoring method of that new tournament
Q: When is the last date to draft or buy a team?
There is no deadline.
Q: Can I pay by credit card?
A: Yes, and if you already have a paypal account, its even easier
Q: Why are some Pro skiers not on the draft lists?
A: Fantasywaterski.com has done its best to give a complete list of pro skiers, but naturally there may be some newcomers that we were not aware of. If you have a skier that you would like to add to your team you can do so from your manager console.
Q: Can I do fantasy for other sport divisions such as wakeboarding, wakeskating, barefoot, kneeboard, college, show skiing, and disabled?
A: You can play the wakeboard version at www.fantasywakeboard.com.
Q: If I pick up a skier mid-season do I get that skiers stats from that point on or does it use his results from the whole year?
A: You get those skiers points once they are traded, you do not get their scores from previous tournaments
Q: What happens if a tournament is rained out or suspended?
A: If a tournament is delayed or cancelled a decision will be made accordingly
Q: What if I draft a skier that isn't skiing?
A: Unfortunately this could happen, there are skiers listed in our draft that are currently hurt but are expected to return. Or someone may decide not to ski the tour this year. This is the chance you take and this is why it's very important to research and stayed tuned to the site often to read up on current news
Q: What happens if I do nothing once I buy my team?
A: That's fine, if you choose to simply buy a team and sit back you'll still score points. The computer will default your draft and then the computer will default your active roster to your best skiers in each event
